Timeline
  • 1927 – Peter Bogdon and Karl Gross found the Bogdon and Gross furniture company with manufacturing located in Kitchener, Ontario. The Company specializes in upholstery frames and chairs.
  • 1938 – The Company moves to its current manufacturing facility in Walkerton, Ontario
  • 1944 – Founding member Peter Bogdon passes away
  • 1945 – Employees at B&G celebrate the end of World War II with champagne
  • 1952 – Bodgon and Gross celebrates its 25th anniversary with an employee banquet and dance
  • 1956 – The Company acquires a Hanover plant used for upholstery work
  • 1963 - Warehouse destroyed in blaze in Walkerton
  • 1968 – Peter Bogdon’s son, George, is elected president of the Canadian Manufacturers’ Association
  • 1977 – B&G celebrates 50 years of business
  • 1983 – The Company makes a notable comeback despite a recession
  • 1990 – Winston and his father George Bogdon die
  • 1993 – Barbara Bogdon oversees B&G after her husband Winston dies
  • 2000 – May-long weekend festivities shadowed by the Walkerton Water Scandal
  • 2003 – Lean manufacturing and Just-In-Time production techniques implemented
  • 2004 – January rings in the company’s 75th anniversary with a new product and market direction. The Diamond Anniversary Collection is introduced
  • 2005 – The Isabelle Collection is introduced
  • 2006 – The Champlain Collection is introduced
  • 2006 – Present owner, Adam Hofmann acquires Bogdon and Gross Furniture Company
  • 2007 – Bogdon and Gross Furniture Company rebrands itself under the new name BG Furniture
  • 2007 – Dirk Nielsen appointed as VP Manufacturing and partner
  • 2007 – The Chateau Philippe Collection is introduced
  • 2007 – BG Furniture celebrates the company’s 80th anniversary
